"A Breath of Fresh Air" is a Support Group for those with COPD or other Breathing Disorders

A Breath of Fresh AirA Breath of Fresh Air Support Group has the goal to:

  1. Provide emotional support: Create a safe and understanding environment where individuals can share their experiences, frustrations, and concerns related to living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease  (COPD) and other breathing disorders. The support group can serve as a source of empathy, encouragement, and understanding.
  2. Share information and resources: Facilitate the exchange of knowledge, information, and resources related to COPD and breathing disorders. This may include discussing the latest treatment options, sharing tips for managing symptoms, or providing updates on medical advancements in the field.
  3. Foster self-management skills: Empower individuals to take an active role in managing their condition by providing education and practical strategies for self-care, lifestyle modifications, and symptom management. Encourage members to share their own strategies and successes.
  4. Promote healthy habits: Encourage and support members in adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyle habits that can improve overall respiratory health. This may include discussions on exercise, nutrition, smoking cessation, stress management, and medication adherence.
  5. Enhance quality of life: Focus on improving the overall well-being and quality of life for individuals living with COPD and other breathing disorders. Share strategies for managing daily activities, maintaining social connections, and finding joy and fulfillment despite the challenges of the condition.
  6. Advocate for awareness and understanding: Raise awareness about COPD and other breathing disorders in the community and advocate for understanding and support. Encourage members to share their stories, participate in public events, and engage in advocacy efforts to promote better understanding and resources for respiratory health.

A Breath of Fresh Air Support Group Meets:

When: 3:00 PM on the THIRD THURSDAY in the months of:

  • February

  • June
  • August
  • October
  • December

Where:  St. Francis Conference Room, Surgery Center Building, 4th Floor
