About the Award

The Peggy White Spirit of Leadership Legacy Award honors Peggy’s leadership impact on the communities and peoples of rural west central Iowa. Peggy is recognized for her strong dedication to community development and support, as well as her deep commitment to Franciscan spirituality and values. Her efforts have had a lasting impact on the region. This award celebrates her numerous contributions while acknowledging her enduring legacy of leadership. The Peggy White Spirit of Leadership Legacy Award supports and inspires engagement and advocacy for the people, land and communities of west central Iowa. Peggy’s legacy resonates deeply among leaders that foster unity and progress within the communities of west central Iowa.
St. Anthony Foundation serves as the steward of this grant in recognition of Peggy’s longstanding relationship with St. Anthony and her deep commitment to its Franciscan mission. Over the years, Peggy demonstrated a strong belief in ensuring access to high-quality health care close to home, aligning closely with the values and priorities of St. Anthony. Her philanthropic partnership reflects both trust in the organization’s leadership and confidence in its ability to responsibly manage and advance investments. Beyond her support of St. Anthony, Peggy has provided exceptional leadership throughout the communities served, championing initiatives that strengthen health care access, promote community well-being, and inspire collaborative progress across the region.
The Leadership Legacy Award recognizes individuals within local communities who embody the spirit of compassion, commitment and leadership exemplified by Peggy. Her legacy lives on within dedicated leaders that work to move our communities forward. The charisma found in Peggy White's legacy honorees reflects her commitment to making a positive impact, demonstrating compassion, leadership, innovation and commitment to health. The St. Anthony Foundation and the Peggy White Legacy Award celebrates and honors their remarkable contributions. The honorees resonate with Peggy's enduring influence by inspiring others to leadership while fostering a spirit of community.
CRITERIA:
The selection committee will evaluate the following criteria for nominees of the Peggy White Spirit of Leadership Award:
- The nominee lives and serves in west central Iowa
- Models the service of volunteerism to their community
- Advocate and support for communities to overcome barriers, welcome the stranger, promote healthy living and access to healthcare within west central Iowa
- Demonstrate a life committed to excellence while inspired by faith
- Provide an account of how they’ve achieved a positive impact on the community, organization or movement
SUBMIT A RECOMMENDATION
To recommend a nominee, please complete the application below and provide all requested information outlined.
Applications will be reviewed by a nonpartisan committee comprised of Foundation Board members, St. Anthony Regional Hospital leaders, family members of Peggy White, and other community members as appropriate. Awardees will be recognized during the St. Anthony Foundation Scholarship Award Ceremony held in mid-May at the Carroll Recreation Center Auditorium in Carroll, Iowa.
In addition, recipients will be asked to submit a brief report six months after receiving the award outlining how the financial support furthered their charitable efforts, strengthened their positive influence, and helped continue the legacy of Peggy White. Photos are highly encouraged as part of the report submission and may be utilized for promotional and storytelling purposes.
AWARDS
Selected nominee(s) will receive a financial award of $5,000.00. This financial award is designed to further the nominee(s) charitable efforts, support positive influence, and continue the legacy of Peggy White.
The Leadership Legacy Award honors individuals in local communities who reflect the compassion, commitment and leadership qualities of Peggy. It celebrates those who continue her legacy through their dedicated efforts to advance and uplift their communities.
