Cancer Care Endowment

The Cancer Care Fund ensures sustainable financial support for the St. Anthony Cancer Center, serving a 20-county region as the leading provider of Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Infusion Services. Nationally recognized for its expert oncologists and certified nursing staff, the center relies on state-of-the-art equipment for effective treatment. Annual investment earnings provide stable funding to maintain and enhance these critical services.

Cardiac Care Endowment

The Cardiac Fund supports life-saving cardiology services for inpatients and outpatients at St. Anthony. The Emergency Department, Clinics, Surgery, and Medical/Surgical units all depend on specialized equipment and staff training to deliver the highest quality cardiac care. Investment earnings ensure continued advancements and excellence in emergency and long-term cardiac care.

Ed Smith Employee Appreciation Fund

Honoring Edward H. Smith, Jr.’s 34-year legacy at St. Anthony, this fund fosters a culture of appreciation through events and programs benefiting all employees. Rather than individual recognition, this fund supports hospital-wide initiatives that enhance staff morale and engagement, with investment earnings providing ongoing financial stability.

Maternal Health Endowment

As a State of Iowa-designated Center of Excellence, St. Anthony is the primary provider of obstetrics and women’s health services in west-central Iowa. This fund sustains critical maternal health programs, ensuring continued high-quality care for mothers and newborns. Annual investment earnings provide reliable support for these essential services.

Mental Health Endowment

St. Anthony has a long history of mental health care, providing both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services through Psychiatrists and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners. Many patients are uninsured but receive care regardless of ability to pay. As statewide mental health resources remain scarce, St. Anthony serves patients from across Iowa. Investment earnings help bridge gaps in care and expand access to critical mental health services.

Orthopedic Endowment

The Orthopedic Fund supports comprehensive orthopedic care, delivered through the Orthopedic Clinic, Surgery, Rehabilitation, Medical/Surgical, and Emergency Departments. By keeping care local, the fund reduces travel burdens for patients in surrounding counties. Annual investment earnings ensure continued access to high-quality orthopedic treatment and equipment.

General Purpose Fund

This fund provides flexible financial support for St. Anthony Regional Hospital departments. Through a rolling grant process, departments can apply for funding to support projects aligned with the hospital and foundation’s mission, enhancing patient care and hospital operations.

Scholarship Fund

The St. Anthony Scholarship Fund supports students pursuing healthcare careers, ensuring a strong pipeline of well-trained professionals for the hospital’s clinics, senior services, and long-term care facilities. By investing in education, this fund strengthens workforce recruitment and retention, enhancing patient care and community health. Annual investment earnings provide stable financial support, reinforcing St. Anthony’s commitment to healthcare excellence and workforce development.

Senior Services Endowment

This fund supports high-quality, compassionate care for residents at Orchard View Independent Living, Garden View Assisted Living, and St. Anthony Nursing Home. Investment earnings provide sustainable funding for these vital senior services, ensuring a comfortable and dignified living experience.

Spiritual Care Endowment

Founded in 1905 by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, St. Anthony recognizes Spiritual Care as a core part of its mission. Unlike medical services, Spiritual Care is not reimbursable by insurance, yet remains essential for patients, residents, and staff. Investment earnings sustain this mission-driven program, ensuring continued spiritual support for all who seek comfort and guidance at St. Anthony.

In addition to these endowed funds, which ensure perpetual investment in St. Anthony Regional Hospital and Nursing Home, the St. Anthony Foundation also manages several non-endowed funds.
