November 2024 - The Pulse
DAISY Award Recipient - Kelly Lee
Kelly Lee, RN was presented with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at a reception with her family and co-workers last week. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform daily.
A portion of the nomination submission read: "Kelly Lee is a true patient advocate and champion by ensuring patients receive the care and treatments they deserve. One night, Kelly Lee came on shift and continued advocating for a patient who left and needed home oxygen. Kelly Lee made it her priority to check in on the patient and keep them updated on the process to arrange home oxygen. She was a diligent advocate for the patient making repeated phone calls to an ancillary healthcare agency to ensure the patient received their home oxygen knowing this patient had a limited supply that was sent from the hospital. The patient called the next day and said they'd gotten the oxygen. All because of Kelly Lee's perseverance and dedication."
Congratulations, Kelly Lee! You are a wonderful nurse and advocate for our patients.

We Are One St. Anthony - Gratitude
When our mood is low our problems feel overwhelming and can consume us. Bringing something to mind that we are grateful for can help us shift into a more productive and positive mindset.
The following are tips to help you shift to a Gratitude Perspective:
- Look at the good things. Spend a few moments, each day, thinking about what you are grateful for in your life.
- Keep a gratitude journal. Write down one to three things that you feel appreciative of, each day.
- As you go through your busy day, be more aware of the little things such as the sunrise or a child's laugh.
Gratitude may be one of the simplest yet most powerful tools we can access daily to lift our moods, move us into a more positive state of mind and transform our lives and the lives of those around us.

This year’s Employee Giving Campaign has kicked off, focusing on patient care room chairs and outdoor care areas at the Nursing Home. All employees will be receiving information in the mail and by email!
- The Patient and Family Advisory Council has focused on improving furniture in patient care areas, especially in med/surg/peds rooms, to enhance the patient experience. A better environment supports recovery, boosts preventive care, and improves safety. St. Anthony plans to replace 20 chairs, with the Annual Employee Giving Campaign as a funding start.
- In the Nursing Home, residents enjoy sunny days in the front area, and the campaign aims to enhance this by funding a wheelchair-accessible swing, canopy repairs, and other outdoor improvements. Time outdoors has been shown to improve sleep, reduce depression, aid mental recovery, and boost motivation.
You can support this year’s program through a one-time donation, or through payroll deductions. Payroll deductions would begin January 1 and occur throughout the 26 pay periods in 2025. Employees also have an opportunity to support this campaign online, by clicking here.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
