St. Anthony Employees Earn New Hope Appreciation Award
At the 2024 New Hope Appreciation Event on December 10, our very own Lisa Kouri and Tyler Loew received an honorable award!
New Hope stated in a Facebook post: "Lisa Kouri, Director of Materials Management, and Tyler Loew, Supervisor of Environmental Services, have gone above and beyond in welcoming two individuals supported by New Hope onto their hospital team. Their dedication extends far beyond job duties—ensuring a safe environment and providing support. They adjust plans, listen with empathy, and create opportunities for success, both in the workplace and beyond. Even off the clock, they answer calls, check in daily, and provide guidance."
Great job, Lisa & Tyler!
A Year in Review at The Birth Place
We Are One St. Anthony - Curiosity
Curiosity is a powerful mindset that helps us navigate change. It elevates our mood and inspires innovative thinking. Our lives are enriched when we approach our relationships and work with genuine curiosity.
Here are some tips to help raise awareness and develop a more curious mindset:
- When you are approached with a new idea or a potential change, instead of focusing on what is wrong, pause and don't rush to quick judgements.
- Create a habit of asking yourself, "What am I not seeing?" or "What is possible?" With others using phrases like, "Tell me more about that...." or "Help me understand..." can cultivate genuine curiosity.
- Is there someone in your life who you tend to judge more often? Try changing your approach. Be more curious by asking questions to better understand their point of view.
We have the opportunity, each day, to develop our Curious Mindset by asking questions and being more open to new ideas and suggestions.

Blue C.H.I.P.S. Awards: A warm congratulations to the 4th Quarter 2024 Blue Chips nominee winners.
The E2 Committee was honored with over 100 nominations to review. Thank you to each of you who took the time to write a nomination!
Blue Chip Awardee: Jill Klein, Same Day Surgery
Nomination: Jill recently cared for a 23-month-old child in the recovery room. She monitored this child over 3 hours and kept him safe. He had 2 respiratory emergency events that she expertly managed and remained calm throughout. Her skill set and her dedication to her patients is admirable. She has also picked up extra Pacu call and stayed late to help her teammates several times in the last month, she really goes above and beyond! Great job Jill!
Blue Chip Awardee: Brandi Strautman, Communications
Nomination: I want to give Brandi kudos for dreaming up the Girls Night Out event and then seeing it through to fruition, with all of the planning, coordination, and heavy lifting that entailed. The event was a big hit and a great success...a great way to promote St. Anthony! Good work, Brandi!
Blue Chip Awardees: Kayla Venner, Dana Morris & Lacey Kitchen, The Birth Place
Nomination: Recently I had a high-risk patient I was covering being induced. During her labor in the middle of the night, she became higher risk and required a second IV line due to escalating severe range blood pressures as well as magnesium. The swiftness of the nurses obtaining the IV line and timeliness of starting both medications while remaining calm and working together was incredible. This occurred while 2 other patients were being admitted and 2 couplets being care for by another RN. Near time of delivery both nurses worked together to improve FHTs ensuring a safe and efficient delivery. I am convinced this patient would have ended up transferred or in C-section if not for the prompt and excellent care of Kayla, Dana, and Lacey. I have to add that as an OB provider I know that in the US the highest mortality among pregnant moms are those that are non-white with Preeclampsia so it is not lost on me that keeping this mother and baby safe and with a good outcome is quite heroic. Job well done.
Jill

St. Anthony Earns 2024 Performance Leadership Award from The Chartis Center for Rural Health in Quality
Compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards recognize top quartile performance (i.e., 75th percentile or above) among rural hospitals in Quality, Outcomes and/or Patient Perspective.
“This award reflects the dedication of the entire St. Anthony team to providing exceptional care to our communities,” said Bailee Schleisman, Vice President of Quality at St. Anthony. “We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to quality and will continue to strive for excellence in every aspect of patient care.”
The Performance Leadership Awards are based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive and objective framework for assessing how rural hospitals are performing. INDEX benchmarks are relied upon by rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints, hospital associations, and state offices of rural health to measure performance across multiple areas impacting hospital operations and finance.
“The Performance Leadership Awards capture the commitment, diligence, and innovation with which America’s rural hospitals approach the delivery of care within their communities,” said Troy Brown, Network Consultant, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “It’s a tremendous honor to be able to recognize the efforts of this year’s award winners and celebrate their achievement.”
