CANsurvive Cancer Support Group Meeting
Learning you have cancer and facing the challenges of treatment or changes in lifestyle can trigger strong emotions. Family members and health care providers are wonderful support systems and sources of information, but they may not understand what it feels like to have cancer.
Support groups provide space to learn from the experience of others living with cancer, to exchange information and to share feelings. If you’re hesitant to attend a meeting, give it one chance. Oftentimes, we may think we are struggling alone, but support groups help us see that there are others who are dealing with similar situations and who, in turn, can help us get better.
The CANSurvive Cancer Support Group offers education, support and social interaction to people with cancer, their families, friends, and loved ones. Support group members include people in all stages of their cancer journey, from newly diagnosed individuals to long-time survivors.
The meetings feature guest speakers who cover a variety of topics which may include spirituality, coping skills, complementary medicine, nutrition, updates in current therapy and other subjects as the group requests.
Pre-registration is requested in order to plan for the group size, allowing for safe social distancing in the meeting space. To do so, use the registration link above, or call 712-794-5243.
The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month in the Education Center - St. Clare Room, located on the 4th floor of the St. Anthony Surgery Center Building. Parking is available on the lower levels of the building.
