St. Anthony Regional Hospital is seeking new graduate nurses and those with less than one year of experience to apply for the Nurse Residency Program.  You will have the opportunity within this application to select your top three choices for placement within the St. Anthony organization.  

Overview of the St. Anthony Nurse Residency Program:

• The Nurse Residency Program is designed to assist newly graduated nurses with the transition from nursing school to a confident, competent, Registered Nurse. 

• Through your first year as a Registered Nurse at St. Anthony you will receive additional support and training from the Nurse Residency Program Coordinator, Clinical Nurse Educators, and experienced preceptors. 

• Monthly Resident Program meetings will supplement your unit based orientation with additional hands on training, simulation, expert lectures and small group discussions. 

• The Residency classes provide didactic, evidence-based content essential to developing your clinical, inter-personal communication skills, and confidence in your practice.

• In daily practice, the Staff Nurse will care for patients on their assigned unit and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.

Duties:

• Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.

• Administers prescribed medications and treatment plans in accordance with Hospital policies.

• Continually assesses patient health care expectations and condition reporting significant changes to supervisor or physician when necessary.

• Uses Meditech Information System to document and enter orders.

• Provides quality nursing care through professional practice and clinical performance.

• Explains procedures and treatments to patients and families to gain understanding and allay apprehension.

• Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocols.

• Initiates a patient care plan and education plan according to patient priorities.

• Consults with and keeps Charge Nurse/Supervisor informed of status and needs of assigned patients.

• Participates in department quality improvement activities.

• Demonstrates professionalism and works cooperatively with others.

• Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.

• Assists physician with special unit procedures.

• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

• Attends mandatory meetings and programs.

• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Education and Experience

• Associate's degree (A. A.), Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) 

• Less than 12 months of experience as an RN.

• No experience required.

Position Requirements:

• Graduate (or will graduate within the next 4 months) of an approved School of Nursing.

• BCLS certification required prior to hire.

• ACLS certified within one year of employment.

• Additional life support certifications may be required based on placement.
