Carroll was recently featured as a lead story in the Omaha World Herald which stated, “The town of Carroll, with incomes above and poverty rates below the state average, rises about the rest.” Carroll is a well-balanced community with high-quality growth in business and industry. Carroll is located 100 miles between Des Moines and Omaha, Nebraska.

Citizens of Carroll understand the importance of quality education. Working together, the parochial and public schools in the Carroll area provide choices and access to educational programs very few other schools in the country can match, with students scoring above average in tests of academic achievement and educational development. The Carroll campus of Des Moines Area Community College offers a variety of classes including 2+2 programs with the University of Northern Iowa, making it possible to obtain a four-year degree without leaving Carroll.

Recreationally, Carroll is tops! Swan Lake State Park, just south of the city limits, accommodates outdoor activities year-round. This 510-acre multi-use park includes a 110-acre lake, 200 campsites, education center, picnic areas, swimming beaches and trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and horseback riding. Sauk Rail Trail is a scenic, 33-mile, multi-use trail that extends north from Swan Lake State Park.

The impressive Carroll baseball stadium, the well-groomed fields of the football stadium and million-dollar Little League Complex are examples of Carroll’s devotion to sports. Carroll boasts two 18-hole golf courses and 12 city parks. 

The Carroll Recreation Center hosts an indoor Olympic-size pool and courts for basketball, volleyball, racquetball and tennis as well as a fully equipped exercise facility with the latest equipment. Sauna, meeting rooms and a 400-seat auditorium round out the Rec Center facilities.
