Building Learning Opportunities to Improve Healthcare Quality & Access
Since the opening of the Education Center in January 2009, the focus of training efforts at St. Anthony have been to improve patient care, patient safety, and healthcare education using a balance of classroom training, online learning and medical simulation. Professional learning opportunities in a variety of healthcare topics are offered to St. Anthony staff as well as to area healthcare professionals.
The St. Anthony Education, Training and Simulation Center has been awarded the Iowa Hospital Association, Iowa Healthcare Educators Institutional Award, recognizing the organization's efforts for original and innovative educational programming.
The Education Services Department supports the mission, vision, and values of the St. Anthony organization by developing and providing educational resources and services which improve the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care.
Educational services enhance organizational effectiveness by providing programming intended to increase the knowledge and skills of employees. The department facilitates the maintenance of health care standards for St. Anthony by designing products and services specific to the needs of the staff.
"Applying advanced technologies to our learning programs has dramatically increased our capacity to prepare healthcare providers and students to meet the demands of today's challenging patient care environment," said Katie Towers, Education Services Director. "Our goal is to provide the variety of programs, along with the technology necessary, to make access to quality healthcare available to meet the present and future needs of the people of our region."
