St. Anthony Regional Hospital and the McFarland Clinic will begin a collaboration in orthopedic services, effective June 11, 2018. The Des Moines Orthopedic Surgeons (DMOS) space at 311 South Clark Street located at St. Anthony Hospital will transition to McFarland Orthopedic Services. The new phone number for all local orthopedic services will be (712) 792-7520.
The orthopedic team, which will include 17-year veteran Thomas Dulaney, M.D., who will continue part-time as a DMOS orthopedic surgeon in the same space, will grow with the addition of a McFarland contracted physician, David Muron, M.D.
“This is a very exciting time for orthopedics in Carroll,” said Ed Smith, St. Anthony President and CEO. “As Dr. Dulaney looks to reduce his schedule, we have the opportunity to expand our team to include more surgeons. This joint decision was made to ensure continuity of outstanding orthopedic care for the many west central Iowans seeking those services and for the physicians who refer their patients.”
The orthopedic surgery department will maintain its current location with current employees that west central Iowans have come to know. Dr. Dulaney will continue to see patients on a part-time basis, Wednesday and Friday mornings, while Dr. Muron will be available for daily appointments, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“Orthopedic surgery is an important service for residents of Carroll and surrounding communities,” said Andrew Perry, McFarland Clinic Chief Executive Officer. “We are pleased to collaborate with St. Anthony leadership and form a partnership that will benefit the community. We will continue to recruit for two, full-time orthopedic surgeons within the coming year.”
Dr. Muron formerly served Riverside Health System in Gloucester, Virginia as an orthopedic surgeon.
“The addition of this talented physician will aid in the transition of orthopedic care,” Dr. Dulaney said. “I am confident our patients will continue to experience the highest quality care available, which makes me grateful to live and work in a community where the needs of our patients is the utmost priority for both the McFarland Clinic and St. Anthony.”
