Jill Schultes-Pudenz Recipient of the DAISY Award
Jill Schultes-Pudenz, RN was presented with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at a reception with her family and co-workers last week. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform daily.
A portion of the nomination submission read: “As a mother of three premature children, I have spent many months in hospitals as a parent and advocate. I have watched many nurses care for my children, and Jill stands out above the rest because of her gentle way of getting to know her patients and their family members. My daughter was the first pediatric patient Jill cared for, and even though my 4-month-old daughter could not respond, Jill spoke to her and explained everything to her. Jill asked me about my daughter’s preferences and history. Jill had empathy and was sensitive to our history. She is a one-of-a-kind nurse!”

Thank you, Jill, for going above and beyond for patients, families, and our community!

Cancer Center
Full-time:16 Part-time:8 Relief: 4
Here's what the Cancer Center Team has to say:
We have grown so much these past two years. It has taken the entire team effort to expand our services which now include genetic testing opportunities and clinical trials. We are offering SBRT treatments in radiation oncology. The continued community support helps enhance our mission and to care for the patients and families we serve.
Most Proud: The majority of the Cancer Center RNs are oncology certified with two more taking the exam this year. We have had no turnover unless a staff member retired!
Biggest Challenge: Our biggest challenges are changes with insurance authorizations for treatments and finding transportation for patients that are in need.
Things we do that no one realizes: In our first year in the new Cancer Center we were able to grow our new patient referrals by 20% and had over 15,000 patient visits. We are in the process of commissioning a chemo-mixing robot. Once up and running, our Cancer Center will be the first in the nation to have this technology.

Missing from the photos: Infusion Therapy: Jane Hackfort, Sara Hocker, Courtney Sibbel, Heather Kellner, Alyssa Willenborg; Medical Oncology: Sheryl Bolton and Jeanie Boeckman; Radiation Oncology: Katie Decker, Kellie Brenny and Hope Petzenhauser; Patient Support: Krista Heuton, Angelo Luis, Melissa Schultes, Abbie Mihannah and Mindi Rotert
Keep up the great work, Cancer Services Team!
Second Annual SuperDraft Tournament a Huge Success
Softball enthusiasts participated in the second annual Carroll SuperDraft Tournament on May 14, 2022, which raised funds to provide assistance for patients seeking treatment at St. Anthony Regional Cancer Center. Recently, the Carroll SuperDraft committee presented a donation of $10,000 to directly help patients experiencing financial difficulties as a result of their illness. Our very own, Katie Decker, dosimetrist at the cancer center, along with her husband, Tad, are part of the SuperDraft Committee. Other members of the committee include Colby and Nicole McCarville, Katie and Kyle Cornelius, and Kevin Nepple.
Pictured are SARH staff with the SuperDraft Committee receiving the donation on August 25th.
