Department SpotlightSt. Anthony Respiratory Care

Respiratory StaffThe Respiratory Department has two full-time and two PRN staff members and are working to add one more staff member.

Respiratory treatments are provided for in-patients with difficulty breathing. Smoking cessation programs are also provided and staff also help people with their personal respiratory equipment.

Respiratory care staff perform diagnostics testing such as EEGs, Sleep Studies, Home Sleep tests, and PFTs. We maintain respiratory equipment and order all respiratory supplies for the hospital and clinics.

The Respiratory Care Department is staffed seven days per week.  Hours currently are 7 am to 3:30 pm, but they will change as needed for patient care.

The biggest challenge for this department is to be available for in-patients while continuing the out-patient procedures. They are always looking for new ways to assist  patients with their pulmonary health.

COVID-19 Vaccination Progress for St. Anthony EmployeesEnd COVID

As of April 20th, St. Anthony had 77% of staff receiving at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine (74% fully were vaccinated). Other comparable hospitals:

  • Pella Regional Health Center – 57%
  • Keokuk County Hospital and Clinics – 57% (Sigourney, IA)
  • Jackson County Regional Health Center – 58% (Maquoketa, IA)
  • Mahaska Health – 50% (Oskaloosa, IA)
  • Shenandoah Medical Center – 65%
  • Winneshiek Medical Center – 79% (Decorah, IA)

In comparison, we are doing pretty well but would, of course, like to see an even higher compliance percentage. This is a gentle reminder that COVID-19 vaccines are still available through Carroll County Public Health.

Visit this site to understand more about the benefit of mRNA vaccines, and how you gain protection without ever having to risk the serious consequences of getting sick with COVID-19. Check out these myths and facts HERE
