Support Group for Breathing Disorders
"A Breath of Fresh Air" is a new support group at St. Anthony for those with COPD or other Breathing Disorders. Prior to the COVID pandemic, a similar group had been meeting through respiratory therapy and had disbanded. Since then, Kallie Smitts and Tricia Clow, staff in Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab, have reformed and revamped the group at the urging of their patients. Rotating topics of discussion and education are offered along with conversation and support.
A Breath of Fresh Air Support Group meets at 3:00 PM on the third Thursday in the months of February, April, June, August, October, and December, in St. Francis Conference Room. No RSVP is needed. READ MORE HERE.

Governor Kim Reynold's announced healthcare grant at St. Anthony
Gov. Kim Reynolds announced that Iowa will award a $1.5 million grant opportunity to fund two additional Centers of Excellence in rural communities — further expanding the reach of quality healthcare across the state.
In a press conference at St. Anthony Regional Hospital on Thursday, June 8, Reynolds said the grant will award $750,000 each towards two new healthcare organizations in a three-year period, aiming to establish Centers of Excellence in rural Iowa based on community needs within their respective region.
This announcement came after the Centers of Excellence Pilot Program, created by Reynolds in 2021, awarded a five-year grant to St. Anthony Birth Place and Grinnell Regional Medical Center of over $200,000 each year. READ MORE HERE.
