Women's Choice Award Winner x3!

WC

It is my honor to announce that we’ve earned three 2023 Women’s Choice Awards, making us one of America's Best Hospitals for patient experience, emergency care, and obstetrics.  This is a testament to our ongoing commitment to the families within our community, and we could not have achieved this exceptional recognition without the support of each of our employees.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing commitment to our patients and community.

So what does this award mean and how did we earn it?

In addition to meeting the highest level of healthcare criteria, we had to earn it from our community.  In fact, only the hospitals that achieve a high level of patient satisfaction criteria from their patients, are eligible to earn these awards, and we are so proud of that accomplishment. Our unwavering commitment to providing the best healthcare is our most important pledge to our community and the greatest compliment.

By carrying the Women’s Choice Award, we’re part of an elite network of healthcare facilities across America that are committed to empowering women to make smart healthcare choices.

Please join me in taking the pledge to earn this award recognition each day – and for years to come.

Anita Becker, Vice President of Patient Services

Department SpotlightNursing Home

36 full-time, 7 part-time, 3 weekend package, and 26 relief staff make up the team.

Here's what the Nursing Home Team has to say:

Our facility has a total of 79 beds of which 18 are in a secured memory care area. We have 50 private rooms and 15 semi-private rooms.

Biggest Challenge: Like many other departments and organizations , our greatest challenge is staffing.

We are proud of how well our team works together. Our last two DIA surveys, 2021 Deficiency Free and 2022 one minor deficiency. The state average for deficiencies is 6.8. We are also ranked a 5-star facility by CMS. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Something that not everyone realizes: We have a dedicated private room for residents that are near their end of life. The room is larger to accommodate several visitors at once and is located near the nurse's station.

Another unique thing about our facility is that we employ two beauticians who also assist with activities. This opportunity came out of COVID when no outside contractors were allowed, which meant residents couldn’t have their hair done.

John Coon - A Friend to All

John Coon, 61, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, unexpectedly in Omaha, Nebraska.

John will be remembered most for hisJohn Coon everlasting love of sports and how he avidly followed the Iowa State Cyclones and Kuemper Knights. Whenever his nieces and nephews were playing a sport he was their number one fan.

There was not a stranger he ever met and a name he never forgot. A conversation never left unspoken. If you were lucky enough to be a friend of John’s, you were a friend for life.

He was employed at here at St. Anthony in the Food & Nutrition Department and at HyVee.

Our St. Anthony family will miss John dearly. May he rest in peace.
