Mental Health Services
16 full-time, 4 part-time, 2 weekend package, and 2 relief staff make up the team.
Here's what the Mental Health Services Team has to say:
In 2019, we combined our inpatient and outpatient mental health units as combined Mental Health Services. We work together to provide stellar service to our community and beyond.
Biggest Challenge: Just like everywhere else, we have staffing challenges. However, our biggest challenges are finding resources for our patients. Many roadblocks come up if we are trying to find placement for a patient or getting them into see a mental health provider.
We are proud of how well our team works together. Each day we face a new challenge that makes us bring ideas to the table and come up with solutions.
Something that not everyone realizes: The amount of planning that goes on for our patients. We assist people with getting insurance, new providers, case managers, psychological testing, rent assistance, finding a placement, filling out court reports, finding clothes or shoes, and different resources that are available in their communities.. the list really goes on and on.
Interesting fact: We have a crisis line available 24 hours a day.
Did you know? One of the ways we strive to end the stigma of mental health is to bring awareness to the community. Last year, was the first annual Mental Health Matters 5K, and we were blown away by the support that was given to our patients.
John Ryan at Carroll Broadcasting interviewed Dr. Amy Canuso about seasonal affective disorder. Listen to the podcast episode by clicking here.

Keep up the great work, Mental Health Services Team!
Continuing a Christmas Tradition: A Child Is Born
St. Anthony is sharing the message of Christmas with the community and visitors in a very big way again this year. The message proclaims “A Child is Born” and illuminates the windows of the surgery center’s fourth floor.
The greeting, which affirms St. Anthony’s Catholic heritage, is designed to spread goodwill to all.
Magic? Maybe! Each letter is a giant stencil, and the maintenance crew places one stencil per window on the 4th floor of the surgery center. The office lights stay on to illuminate the message for all to enjoy.
As you are driving around looking at Christmas lights this year, be sure to make St. Anthony a stop on your list.

St. Anthony Foundation News: Employee Campaign

Giving Parents Peace of Mind:
Delivering the Best Birth Days
Our St. Anthony Family is on the way to doing it again! This year’s employee giving campaign is over halfway to our goal! We hope to raise enough to purchase 10 Halo Bassinest Swivel Sleepers for the new St. Anthony Birth Place. As of November 30, 105 employees have given nearly $19,500! Additionally, we have given over $4,300 toward our SOS fund and more than $3,000 to Hospice.
If each of us would consider giving from our hearts to support this project, we can reach our goal of $36,000. If you haven’t returned your form, it’s not too late. Information can be found on our website at https://www.stanthonyhospital.org/about-us/support-us/employee-giving/ or call or stop in the Foundation offices on the 4th floor of the surgery center.
On December 7, we will begin drawing for several prizes, including the HIGHLY PRIZED parking spot on the second floor of the parking garage. Your donation in any amount will enter you into the drawing.
