Becker's Hospital ReviewSt. Anthony: One of the top hospitals in the nation for nurse communication

Becker's has compiled a list of the best hospitals in the nation for nurse communication in each state using Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems data from CMS.

CMS shares 10 HCAHPS star ratings based on publicly reported HCAHPS measures. The nurse communication star rating combines data from three HCAHPS survey questions and summarizes how well patients feel that their nurses explained things clearly, listened carefully to the patient, and treated the patient with courtesy and respect.

The star rating is based on survey data collected from hospital patients from July 2021 through June 2022. The figures are from CMS' Provider Data Catalog and were released April 26. Asterisks denote that CMS included a footnote about the organization's data, which are summarized below.   See how St. Anthony compares to other Iowa hospitals and the nation, here.

St. Anthony Foundation News: St. Anthony Gala

Gala

The FIRST annual St. Anthony Gala is set for Saturday, November 18, 2023 at The Carrollton Event Center. A dedicated committee of leadership staff are diligently working on the event logistics and details. This fundraising event will feature live and silent auction items, raffle, and entertainment. You can participate and support the event, whether it’s through donations, sponsorships, or purchasing auction items. More details to come!

Proceeds raised from the 2023 gala will be used for St. Anthony Emergency Department renovations and improvements related to safety and security for staff and other patients. There also is an opportunity to expand outpatient ER services to better accommodate patients who come for infusions such as IV antibiotics or hydration fluids. Additional safe space is also needed to house acute mental health patients who stay in the ER until suitable placement can be located; which can be a week or more due to the serious shortage of mental health beds in the state of Iowa. This gala represents our commitment to exploring alternate avenues of fundraising that will help facilitate significant improvements.
