Job Description
Weekend Package: 4/6 weekends; Sat. and Sun. 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
SUMMARY Prepares and compiles records on nursing unit by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
and transmits physician orders to appropriate areas via the Meditech Information System.
Delivers mail or other items to the appropriate mailbox or department.
Replaces and replenishes chart forms.
Restocks file drawers in the pods.
Restocks supplies in patient drawers.
Answers telephone, takes and communicates messages to the appropriate person.
Greets and assists visitors and family members as needed.
Performs clerical duties in relation to operations of appropriate unit.
Orders supplies and equipment and places items in proper storage area.
Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.
Demonstrates professionalism and works cooperatively with others.
Keeps unit neat and maintains a workable environment.
Assists in orientation of new staff to clerical duties on unit.
Answer over-ring call lights from the Unit Secretary Desk console, and convey the patient’s message to the nurse or CNA.
Obtain units from lab and deliver directly to the appropriate nurse.
Update patient roster.
Compiles new patient charts, and takes down discharge patient charts.
Set up patient rooms for new admissions.
Completes all other duties as assigned.
Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
The Morning Unit Secretary is to print all patient kardexes, staple, and deliver them to their respected report room by 0645.
Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, patients, families and other employees or the organization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Comprehension of medical terminology desirable.
