SUMMARY Manages the functions of Quality, Utilization, Risk, Social Services, Corporate Integrity Program, Clinical Analytics and Information Technology. Coordinates functions to achieve compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. A collaborative member of the Hospital Administrative Council.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans, implements, evaluates and coordinates quality management, utilization management and risk management programs to meet the needs of the Hospital and comply with regulatory requirements.
Plans, implements, evaluates and coordinates Social Services for the Hospital.
Plans the Information Technology future for the organization, as well as for the implementation and maintenance of current systems.
Functions as Risk Manager, providing risk identification, analysis of incident patterns, investigations of problem areas, and follow up on corrective actions.
Functions as the Corporate Compliance Officer. Oversees and monitors the Corporate Integrity Program.
Coordinates potential and actual litigation by serving as Hospital liaison to liability carrier, attorneys, and courts.
Coordinates committee agendas for the medical staff and quality board. Compiles and distributes medical committee minutes.
Coordinates data collection from patient satisfaction surveys and performance improvement studies. Acts as a consultant and provides analysis of performance improvement plans. Prepares reports for staff, departments and board.
Coordinates physician and allied health credentialing.
Plans, organizes, and directs the assigned department’s operations by maintaining staffing, training and supervision.
Complies with the Corporate Integrity Program and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.
Completes all other duties as assigned.
Directly supervises employees in the Quality Management, Social Services and Information Technology Departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performances; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
B.S. required, Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent preferred and four to five years related experience and/or training.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, patients, families, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to physicians, management, the public and/or board of directors.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS:
Licensed as a nurse in the State of Iowa
Certified as Professional in Healthcare Quality, preferred.
