Summary: Diagnoses and treats patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Examines patient to determine general physical & mental condition. Determines nature and extent of mental disorder and formulates diagnosis and treatment plan.
Organizes data concerning patient’s family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from patient, relatives, and other sources.
Within the scope for her/his license, orders laboratory and other diagnostic tests and evaluates data obtained.
Administers or prescribes treatment and medications as appropriate per standards of care.
Provides consultation to patients as requested by professional colleagues. Consults with primary care physicians and psychiatrist as appropriate.
Treats or directs treatment of patient, utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications. Provides clinical direction to hospital and clinic personnel.
Completes all required documentation in a timely manner.
Admits patients under the psychiatrist as physician of record.
Provides call coverage for psychiatric clinical services to ensure adequate coverage for patients and service line and in accordance with EMTALA as determined by the hospital.
Provides education and training to St. Anthony Regional Hospital Staff and the surrounding communities on an ongoing basis as requested.
Functions independently in most activities. Provides care for patients/clients on both an in-patient and out-patient basis as assigned. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures and medical staff rules and regulations and by-laws.
Completes all other duties as assigned.
Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
Attends mandatory meetings and programs.
Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony’s Safety Manual.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Advanced Registered Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner graduated from an approved school.
Maintains MOAB Certification
Maintains BLS/ACLS certification if providing patient care
Ability to read, analyze and interpret clinical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, patients, families, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to patients, families, management, the public, and/or board of directors.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
License to practice as an ARNP in the state of Iowa. Meets all requirements of hospital and insurance credentialing
