Job Description

SUMMARY Provides safe and effective respiratory care to patients of all ages, neonate to geriatric. Manages the ventilator, performs EEGs and sleep studies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs respiratory therapy treatments, including EEGs, pulmonary function tests and sleep studies.

Prepares departmental budget.

Maintains and revises departmental policies and procedures as needed.

Maintains staff schedule for Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Clinic.

Cleans equipment.

Maintains respiratory supplies for various areas in the Hospital and orders departmental supplies.

Responsible for ventilator management.

Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

Completes all other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in Respiratory Therapy and Sleep Clinic. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Graduate of a school of Respiratory Therapy and a minimum of two years experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, patients, families, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to effectively present information to management, the public and/or board of directors.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician.

BCLS certification required prior to employment.
