SUMMARY Responsible for all day-to-day operations, quality of care and long-range planning of the Cardio/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinates care of all patients admitted into Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab programs.
Coordinates other Hospital services and departments in providing appropriate teaching or assistance.
Maintains patient records and sends progress and discharge reports to referring physicians.
Shows good communication skills in dealing with patients, families, other staff and physicians.
Develops, implements and continuously monitors unit-based performance improvement.
Researches and develops annual department capital and operating budgets.
Identifies need and directs purchase of supplies and equipment necessary for function of the department.
Justifies variances on monthly Responsibility Reports.
Reviews and revises Policy/Procedure manuals annually.
Writes standards for new policies and procedures.
Maintains professional knowledge base and competence in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
Promotes health care needs of community by involvement in cardiac and pulmonary support groups.
Consults with Director of Quality Management regarding risk issues, Reports of Concern, and potential problems.
Monitors and maintains FTE standards and budgeted salaries.
Identifies ways to positively impact department budget.
Attends 75% of Patient Services meetings and inservices.
Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
Completes all other duties as assigned.
Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or graduate from a school of nursing.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS
Graduate of an accredited school for professional nursing.
Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in the State of Iowa.
Three years experience in coronary care or cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
BCLS and ACLS certification within six months of employment.
