Job Description

SUMMARY Responsible for the processing, review and supervision of all the financial accounting functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Use advanced analytic skills to examine complex financial statements and supporting data

Complete month end-close as well as balance sheet reconciliations

Reviews the monthly computer system G/L, A/P, BAR, M.M, Payroll, Maestro and Clinic batches and completes the monthly general journal entries.

Complete/Review and analyzes the monthly accounts receivable reports, collections, and write offs.

Reviews the monthly fixed assets and construction in progress additions and balances.

Reviews the Chart of accounts and G/L dictionaries.

Analyze and review monthly contractual adjustments and reconciles to general ledger.

Assists with the completion of external audit, annual Medicare cost report and 990 tax forms

Assists the CFO and Controller with the annual budget process.

Ensures accuracy timeliness of all required reports and accounting data to meet applicable deadlines

Completes all other duties as assigned.

Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.


Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Financial Accounting functions. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees: planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university. Two or more years experience in a hospital or business accounting experience required.


Ability to read analyze and interpret documents such as business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.
