Job Description

SUMMARY Provides supervision and administration of quality nursing care for the program by general staff. The RN supervisor will be knowledgeable of all state and federal laws, rules and regulations application to assisted living. The RN Supervisor will assist with scheduling, maintaining policy and procedure compliance and update assessments and service plans ongoing. Provides medication management, chronic and acute disease monitoring, basic treatments and performs glucose monitoring. Keeps a safe and clean environment. Responsibilities also include monitoring and reporting tenant conditions, assisting with housekeeping, laundry and food service needs to provide holistic care for tenants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs written assessments of tenant's condition upon admission and periodically during the nursing process to ensure provision of quality care based on assessed needs of the resident and the established standards of care.

Administers drugs and other therapeutic and diagnostic measure to the tenant in accordance with physician orders, observes and chart the effects of these measures. Records appropriately on MAR and/or TAR.

Uses nursing skills to monitor tenants’ baseline, recognize changes and implement interventions in accordance with the service plan.

Has knowledge of and monitors both chronic and acute disease processes, reports to Director and physician to prevent and/or manage symptoms and exacerbations.

Performs accurate reporting and documentation using established procedures and training. Recognizes, records and reports unusual findings. Information includes but is not limited to blood sugars, vital signs, weight, behavior and mobility.

Assists and/or leads monthly in-service education programs, meeting and records maintenance of programs and participants.

Provides guidance and direction to subordinate staff and gives assignments based on the capabilities of the staff.

Assists with scheduling of staff to meet the needs of the tenants and the program.

Maintains professional attitude and is able to work harmoniously with other personnel.

Assists with orientation, instruction, training, and supervision of subordinate personnel and peers.

Consults with and keeps supervisor informed of activities, needs, and problems in assigned work area.

Provides for tenants and employees safety and reports all conditions and/or equipment to the appropriate person.

Creates, updates and reviews tenant service plans ongoing.

Monitors care given by assigned personnel to ensure that all tenants are treated fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect.

Completes all other duties as assigned.

Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or graduate school of nursing.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, tenants, families and other employees or the organization.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Graduate of accredited school for professional nursing.

Currently licensed as a professional nurse in the State of Iowa with an unencumbered, active license.

Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the ability to handle tenant needs.
