Job Description

SUMMARY: Under general administrative direction, provides organizational leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of service consistent with the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan of St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Director understand, supports, communicates and promotes St. Anthony initiatives. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care and a respectful work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plans, implements, coordinates and evaluates Oncology services for St. Anthony Regional Hospital to meet the needs for Radiation and Medical Oncology Services delivery. Coordinates all related services, including genetics, patient navigators, patient registry programs, etc. Works collaboratively with management to achieve system objectives.

Participates in the development and implementation of organizational and departmental goals and actions plans and ensures they are congruent with the Medical Center’s strategic plan. Develops goal measurements to monitor performance and makes adjustments as needed.

Networks and maintains contact with physicians, community groups, third party payers, agencies, vendors, and other health care organizations and other interested parties.

Assists in the development of appropriate marketing strategies.

Participates in intra- and inter- disciplinary process and performance quality improvement activities. Effectively utilizes statistical tools and methods to communicate and measure results. Has ongoing direct contact with consumers to determine specific needs.

Participates in organizational, managerial, and educational functions.

Complies with the Corporate Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Agrees to report any suspected violations of HIPAA as well as any violations of law or Standards of Conduct. Maintains departmental policies and procedures that ensure compliance with regulations and laws by all staff members.

Ensures optimal utilization of department resources through participation in planning and budgeting processes, in development and implementation of systems and practices that achieve defined objectives, in internal and external benchmarking activities, and in monitoring, analysis and resolution of budget and productivity variances.

Develops and manages capital operational budgets in support of strategic plans and goals. Determines and prioritizes facility and equipment needs. Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the organization.

Works closely with Medical Staff in service area to obtain input and support of operations.

Prepares and monitors volume projections for use in planning and budgeting.

Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

Supports strategies to enhance physician recruitment and retention as related to Oncology.

Maintains and ensures the Cancer Center is in good standing with all regulatory agencies as they pertain to the Cancer Center.

In collaboration with medical director, oversees coordination of quarterly Cancer Center Committee Meetings.

Assures quality of service and safety of patients, employees, and visitors through the implementaion of policies and procedures that guide the activities of the staff.

Monitors activities within the department to evaluate performance improvement opportunities. Corrects deficiencies to meet the expectations of quality service.

Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises employees in Radiation & Medical Oncology Services and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include oversight of and participation when interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with an emphasis in the sciences and/or business. Master’s degree in Business or Healthcare preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Minimum of five years of clinical experience.

Minimum of three years of managerial experience.

BCLS Certification
