The St. Anthony Foundation, which is a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization, will accept tax deductible donations to the Sheryl M. Venner Stoolman Memorial Scholarship Fund while permitting the family to oversee the scholarships awards. An endowment has been established, in Sheryl’s memory, to provide funds that will be used toward scholarships for LPN/RN nursing education, EMS training and for sponsoring healthcare education opportunities at St. Anthony. Scholarship applications will be available through the St. Anthony Foundation in January of each year, with the scholarship awards being made each spring.

Sheryl, a daughter of Cyril and Anita (Bruch) Venner, received her LPN degree from the St. Anthony School of Nursing and her RN degree from DMACC, where she continued as a part-time nursing instructor. Sheryl worked as an emergency room nurse at St. Anthony for 26 years and also as an EMT with the Carroll County Ambulance Service. She was a member of the Emergency Nurses Association of Iowa, Iowa Trauma Association and was honored as one of the Iowa Hospital Association’s Hospital Heroes in 2007.  Sheryl died on May 13th, following an accident near Ogden, Iowa.

Dan Stoolman, Sheryl’s husband, said of the partnership, “We received many donations in Sheryl’s memory from the community following the accident.  Partnering with St. Anthony allows our family to stay involved in scholarship decisions while giving donors the advantage of making a tax free donation.”

Donations are being accepted by the St. Anthony Foundation, PO Box 628, Carroll, IA 51401, c/o Sheryl Stoolman Memorial. Donations are also being accepted at the United Bank of Iowa, in Carroll.
