Siouxland Blood Bank Announces Merger

Wednesday, 02 June 2010

LifeServe Blood Center will serve 87 hospitals in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Joining operations will help contain healthcare costs by lowering the cost of a unit of blood for hospital customers and allowing for efficiencies in buying equipment, supplies, and blood testing protocols.

Other than the name change, donors will see little change in customer service and community outreach programs previously provided by Siouxland Blood Bank. The blood centers will maintain a local presence at nine donor centers in the tri-state area and will continue to hold mobile blood drives at St. Anthony Hospital and in the Carroll area.

“St. Anthony looks forward to the continued relationship with the LifeServe Blood Center,” said Gary Riedmann, hospital president. “Blood and blood products used by our patients will come from their Sioux City location.”
