Auxiliary Honors Charter Members with Lifetime Achievement Award

Tuesday, 10 November 2009

On Monday, November 9th, the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary held their annual Fall Banquet for members at the Carrollton Inn. The evening program included special recognition of the organization’s charter members, Alberta Wittrock, Lucille Hudson, Helen Wieland, Jo Twit and Helen Quinn. To kick off the 55th anniversary of the hospital auxiliary, which will be celebrated in 2010, charter members were honored as the first recipients of the newly established Lifetime Achievement Bright Star award. The Bright Star award will be presented annually to active auxiliary volunteers who have given 25 years of service through membership to the organization.

The Auxiliary also presented the third of four $25,000 installments toward their pledge of $100,000 to the St. Anthony Education Center. Auxiliary Co-Presidents, Toni Linberg and Deb Porter, presented the check to hospital President, Gary Riedmann, and Development Director, Trish Roberts.

The St. Anthony Auxiliary supports hospital projects and healthcare scholarships through funds raised at the hospital Coffee and Gift Shop and special events throughout the year.

Upcoming holiday events this year include the annual Christmas Tour of Homes, scheduled for December 6th, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Tickets are $15.00 and are available at the Hy-Vee Branch of Carroll County State Bank, Enchanted Gardens, Special Moments/Perk Central, Breda Savings Bank, Templeton Savings Bank and the St. Anthony Coffee and Gift Shop.

Also, this year a Christmas wreath silent auction will be held, beginning November 20th and culminating with final bids and winners being announced on December 6th at the conclusion of the Tour of Homes. The wreaths are being decorated for the holidays by hospital departments and will be displayed on the first floor at St. Anthony, with bids taken any time from November 20th through December 6th.
