St. Anthony Sets $1 Million as Goal for Emergency Department Capital Campaign

Wednesday, 05 August 2009
St. Anthony Foundation is embarking on a community capital campaign to raise $1 million for the hospital’s emergency department renovation project which is currently underway. Three couples on the committee, pictured above, are (from left) Jim and Donna Riesberg, Gary & Charlene Rupiper, and Becky and Jim Venner.

A capital campaign with several types of gift options is being developed to offer giving opportunities that suit individual needs. “Gifts and pledges of cash or other assets are typically requested in area capital campaigns.” said Gary Riedmann, St. Anthony President. “We want to invite people to participate in this campaign who are sometimes overlooked as potential donors; those who may want to donate corn, beans, livestock or other commodities. Assets such as these make great charitable gifts”

The $4 million project was approved by the hospital board of directors in 2008 to address increased usage, and concerns for the security and privacy of patients, families and staff. The number of patients who use St. Anthony’s emergency services grew from 5,767 visits in 2005 to an expected 7,140 visits in 2009. Part of this growth is the result of St. Anthony’s decision to provide the community continuous on site availability of emergency physician coverage. The Emergency Department expansion project will increase needed space for trauma treatment and address current 1970 building design concerns for patient, family and staff privacy and security issues.

A campaign leadership committee is being established and includes the following individuals: Dr. Richard & Mary Jane Collison, Marty & Gail Greving, Joe & Claudia Halbur, Mike & Cindy Haubrich, David & Karen Klocke, Urban & Jean Knobbe, Jeff & Dawn Koster, Gary & Sandy Loeffelholz, Don & Jean Pottroff, Jim & Donna Riesberg, Gary & Charlene Rupiper, Wayne & Shirley Seaman, David & Sylvia Sporrer, Rollin & Verna Tiefenthaler, Jim & Becky Venner and Paul & Rita Ann Venner. Additional names will be added as the campaign proceeds.
