Sharing the Cancer Journey - Support Program June 11

Tuesday, 05 June 2012

The next meeting will be held Monday, June 11 at 6:30 – 7:30 pm. The program topic will be “Managing Stress & Improving Health - An Introduction to Yoga Techniques.”

Certified Yoga Instructor, Patti Sundermann, will lead the session, offering guidance about the practice and important benefits of yoga during and after cancer treatment.  This is a valuable session for both survivors and their caregivers.

Yoga includes meditation and exercises to help improve flexibility and breathing, decrease stress, and maintain health. Yoga's emphasis on breathing and the connection of mind, body, and spirit also has strong emotional benefits. Additionally, studies have shown that yoga helps lower blood pressure, improves a person's sense of well-being, increases stamina, and can help people have better sleep health.

Sponsored by St. Anthony and Alegent Cancer Care Services, this is a series of cancer information and support sessions. Monthly meetings are a place to learn about cancer and cancer treatments, to gain positive coping skills, and to exchange information and ideas with those who have had similar experiences.
Pre-registration for the upcoming session of Sharing the Cancer Journey is not required. Those seeking additional information about the program, or to learn about other cancer resources, are invited to contact Education Services at 794-5243, or at education@stanthonyhospital.org for more information.
