David Nystrom, D.O., Receives Honorary Degree from the American Academy of Family Physicians

Wednesday, 28 September 2011

Established in 1971 by the Congress of Delegates, the AAFP degree of Fellow recognizes members who have earned respect from among their colleagues for service in family medicine, and ongoing professional development. From a personal perspective, being a Fellow signifies not only 'tenure' but also the physician’s additional work within the community, within organized medicine, within teaching, and indicates a greater commitment to continuing professional development and/or research.

Dr. Nystrom, who is Board Certified in Family Medicine, is a member of the St. Anthony medical staff. He has served as the family medicine provider in the St. Anthony Coon Rapids Clinic for the past four years, and currently cares for patients at the St. Anthony Family Care Physicians Clinic, in Carroll. He regularly acts a preceptor for medical students as they complete their required rotations at St. Anthony. Dr. Nystrom received his medical degree from  Des Moines University and completed a family medicine residency program at the University of Iowa, affiliated Siouxland Medical Education Foundation, in Sioux City, Iowa.

Dr. Nystrom, his wife, Melissa, and sons, Zach and James, and daughter, Leah, reside in Carroll.
