St. Anthony Serves the Area's Mental Health Needs

Monday, 26 September 2011

St. Anthony recognizes this challenge and is making substantial changes to meet the needs of our community.  Two new providers have been added to the mental health team to assist in meeting patient needs.  The hospital has also hired a consulting firm that specializes in mental health issues.  This firm will review the business practices of the department to assess that care is provided in the most efficient and effective manner, allowing the greatest number of patients to be served. “We are taking these additional steps to assure that we have the capacity to provide quality care for as many of our community members as possible” said Karen Timm, RN, MSN, Vice-President for Patient Services.  The results from the review are due in October.

The new members added to the mental health team include Kathy Richardson, ARNP and Winston Dill, DNP.  Kathy is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner, with Board Certification in both Family Psychiatric Mental Health and Pediatrics. Her degrees were earned through the University of Iowa and the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  Kathy has over 35 years of experience as an ARNP.

Winston Dill, DNP, has most recently joined the team, coming from Savannah, Georgia.  Winston received his Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of South Florida.  He then continued his education at the University of South Carolina, earning his Doctorate of Nursing Practice.  Winston also holds degrees as a Doctor of Psychology and Philosophy.  He is further certified in Marriage and Family Therapy.

The new team members join Dr. Robert Langenfeld and Susan Muhlbauer, DNP.  All the providers combined have a wide variety of education and experience to best meet the needs of the community.  “The goal of the Mental Health Department is to serve our clients and remain a viable asset to the community during these trying times,” said Gary Riedmann, CEO.
