St. Anthony Recognized in HealthGrades 2011 Outstanding Patient Experience™

Friday, 10 June 2011

These results are based on April 2009 to March 2010 data taken from responses by patients to the St. Anthony Patient Satisfaction questionnaire. St. Anthony was listed by HealthGrades as one of the top 10% nationwide (339 recognized hospitals out of 3,797 hospitals that submitted patient satisfaction data). Only five other Iowa hospitals were recognized for their patient satisfaction scores. Hospitals had to meet thresholds of bed size, survey‐response size, and clinical‐quality in order to be eligible for the award.

St. Anthony continues to recognize the importance of meeting the initiatives that have proven to positively affect the quality of care patients receive when hospitalized. By instituting a time-out before surgery, focusing on hand washing, managing high-risk medications, and using two patient identifiers, St. Anthony staff has earned the HealthGrades recognition. Efforts continue to focus on improving the safety and quality of patient care and outcomes. St. Anthony is currently participating in a national pilot program to decrease the infection rate of patients with central lines and the national Partnership for Patients that joins hospitals in a shared effort to make hospital care safer, more reliable, and less costly.

“We are proud of the effort our physicians, nurses, and staff have put into improving patient care,” said Gary Riedmann, hospital president. “We will continue to focus on providing exceptional care and services to our patients at St. Anthony Regional Hospital.”
