St. Anthony Receives Iowa Savings Bank Contribution for Cancer Support Programs

Wednesday, 01 December 2010

Through the Iowa Savings Bank building project this fall, employees expanded on the construction theme and titled the fundraiser, “Hammering Away at Breast Cancer – Keep on Pounding.” Activities included bake sales, donations to wear jeans on Fridays, and silent auctions.  Donations were also made toward the selection of male employees nominated to wear pink hard hats as part of a special “man up” challenge to help further promote community awareness.

In recognition of the unprecedented employee support of the project, Iowa Savings Bank President, Bill Hess, announced that all funds generated through the initiative would be matched, doubling the local contribution. Total funds raised from all ISB locations in Carroll, Coon Rapids, Glidden, Lake City, and Bayard totaled $1,800.  When combined with the matching funds, the employee effort helped raise $3,600 for breast cancer support programming.

Upon receiving the donation, Katie Towers, RN commented on behalf of the St. Anthony organization, “the success of the Iowa Savings Bank breast cancer awareness project and this very generous financial donation will provide us the opportunity to extend support to patients and their families in a significant way as we revitalize our Cancer Education, Support, and Visitation Programs.” Towers added, “we are so grateful for community partners like Iowa Savings Bank who dedicate their time, energy and resources to making a vital difference for people in our local communities.”
