St. Anthony Introduces Endowment Fund Opportunities

Friday, 25 March 2011

St. Anthony Regional Hospital and Nursing Home has served the people of Carroll and west central Iowa for more than 100 years. St. Anthony has significantly changed the face of healthcare in the Carroll area by expanding surgery, orthopedic services, radiation therapy, cancer treatment, dialysis services and the emergency department. We have recruited well-trained, well-qualified physicians and staff, to provide state-of-the-art healthcare technology in modern, convenient facilities.

While St. Anthony celebrates many successes, there is still much to do to prepare for future generations. The role of the St. Anthony Foundation is to advance the health of our community by supporting the continued growth and stability of St. Anthony Regional Hospital and Nursing Home. To do this, St. Anthony Foundation has developed several endowments that will perpetuate annual income from investment earnings for targeted initiatives.

The St. Anthony Foundation Board of Directors has set an ambitious goal to raise $48 million in nine priority areas. The identified areas include recruitment of healthcare workers, cancer care, community health, cardiac care, orthopedic & rehabilitation care, pastoral care, women’s services, senior services & Alzheimer’s unit and an unrestricted endowment which will allow St. Anthony to respond to opportunities or emergencies as they arise.

As endowment income grows, St. Anthony will have a permanent and dependable source of revenue to provide financial stability and flexibility to meet both short and long-term needs for the hospital and the community.

People can support St. Anthony endowments in several ways. The first, and easiest, is through a cash gift or a gift of property, such as stocks, mutual funds, retirement funds or real estate. The second is through a pledge, paid over a period of time. The third is through a deferred gift such as a bequest, trust or other estate arrangement. Donors can also list St. Anthony as beneficiary to an insurance policy or commercial annuity.

For more information about establishing an endowment to support one or more of these St. Anthony endowment funds, please consult your legal or financial advisor. They can provide information for the most tax advantageous ways to make an endowment gift. If you would like more information about specific endowment funds or would like to discuss an endowment in memory of a loved one, please contact Trish Roberts, Development Director, at (712) 794-5223.
