St. Anthony Donates to Project ‘CURE’ Update On September 14th, a truck from Walmart arrived at St. Anthony Regional Hospital, Carroll, to pick up hospital beds, patients chairs, and an optometric microscope for donation to Project CURE, a non-profit organization which identifies, collects and ships medical supplies to underprivileged countries throughout the world. This equipment will be shipped to Denver, Colorado, where it will be prepared for shipment to medical facilities in Tanzania, East Africa. Carroll’s McFarland Clinic also donated general medical supplies to be shipped to Tanzania. “St. Anthony feels a special Tanzanian tie through the six African Sisters who have come to the U.S. and work as CNAs in our nursing home,” said Gary Riedmann, St. Anthony President. “We hope that our contributions can help the Sisters in Tanzania deliver more effective medical treatments to the many people they serve.” Father James McCormick, of Holy Spirit, in Carroll, and Sherry Greteman, from St. Anthony, witnessed the arrival of a 40-foot container of medical supplies from Project CURE at the Charlotte Medical Center in Sanya Juu, Tanzania in May 2007. “The equipment and supplies were welcomed, not only by the Sisters, but also by the patients who waited so patiently to be treated at the dispensary,” said Ms. Greteman. Efforts continue to collect second generation equipment and other medical supplies from medical facilities in the area for Project CURE. Individuals or organizations having questions or wishing to contribute to Project CURE may call Sherry Greteman, St. Anthony Executive Assistant, at (712) 792-8231, or Father Jim McCormick at (712) 792-4386.
