St. Anthony & McFarland Clinic Donate
Medical Equipment St. Anthony Regional Hospital recently donated four hospital beds, 35 patient chairs, an optometric microscope, and four dialysis machines to Project CURE, a non-profit organization which identifies, collects, and ships medical supplies to underprivileged countries throughout the world. “We are very pleased to be able to contribute this much-needed equipment to Project CURE for use in medical facilities in Tanzania, East Africa,” said Gary Riedmann, St. Anthony President. “We hope our efforts will serve as a model for other hospitals, clinics, and medical centers to contribute to this very worthwhile project.” Riedmann continued, “We feel a special connection with this part of the world since we have six African sisters working as Certified Nursing Assistants at St. Anthony Nursing Home. We hope our contributions will make a difference in the healthcare needs of many individuals in Tanzania.” McFarland Clinic of Carroll also donated general medical supplies, including a wheelchair and several boxes of orthotic splints. “We are happy to be a part of this great cause,” said Stacy Arnold, McFarland Clinic Carroll Office Manager. In May 2007, a 40 foot container of medical supplies from Project CURE arrived at Charlotte Medical Center in Sanya Juu, Tanzania. Included in the container were needles, bandages, crutches, hospital beds, hydraulic lifts, wheelchairs, syringes, portable toilets, dental chairs, hospital chairs, x-ray equipment, laboratory equipment, and many other supplies. Contributions to Project CURE often include second generation equipment from medical facilities which are upgrading to newer models, as well as many other smaller medical supplies. Individuals or organizations having questions or wishing to contribute to Project CURE may call Sherry Greteman, St. Anthony Executive Assistant, at (712) 792-8231, or Father Jim McCormick at (712) 792-4386. |
