May 29, 2007 NEWS RELEASE St. Anthony Foundation Awards Riedmann and Seidl Scholarships The St. Anthony Foundation recently awarded two scholarships to individuals who are pursuing healthcare education. Mollie Guy, who was awarded the $1,000 Elizabeth Riedmann Healthcare scholarship, is a Kuemper High School graduate, and is employed as a certified nursing assistant in the medical, surgical and pediatric departments at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Randi Mohr, recipient of the $500 Margaret Seidl Healthcare Scholarship, is a Carroll High School graduate and is also a CNA at St. Anthony Regional Hospital working in home health, Birthplace and other hospital departments. Both Mollie and Randi received their practical nursing degrees this month from Des Moines Area Community College and both plan to continue in DMACC’s registered nursing program. The families of the Elizabeth Riedmann and Margaret Seidl established the healthcare scholarships through the St. Anthony Foundation. The Riedmann scholarship is presented each year to an applicant who is pursuing a career in a healthcare field; the Seidl scholarship is presented annually to a student enrolled in a nursing program. Both scholarships were established to encourage the development of healthcare professionals. “This year we had an exceptional field of applicants and we were extremely pleased to have two members of the St. Anthony family receive the awards. Mollie and Randi have established exceptional track records which are evident both at work and in their studies,” said Trish Roberts, Development Director at St. Anthony. |
